Blogger rolled out a great change for blogger blogs to make it more search engine friendly. Blogger blogs got a new tab under settings where you can enable some of the popular search engine friendly features. Meta tags, header tags, Custom Page Not Found and Custom robots.txt.
One another important feature enabled for images, they introduced the ability to incorporate “alt” and “title” tags to images in your post.
Enable Meta Tag insertion In each Posts of Blogger
Search Preferences tab can found under settings tab in dashboard. Where you can enable Search description and other custom fields. Enabling Search Description will add meta description to Home page. This will enable a description box in each post.
Enabling Custom Page Not Found and Redirects
New feature will enable ability to add a custom “Page Not Found” message, and Custom Redirects for pages on your blog. This will hide regular Blogger not found page. Custom Redirects will help to server-side 301 description to another posts.
rel=nofollow
You’ll also find a “rel=nofollow” link attribute in the link tool. Checking this box means that you don’t want this link to be considered when web crawlers are searching for information they’ll use to index your page.
Crawlers and indexing
Warning! Use with caution. Incorrect use of these features can result in your blog being ignored by search engines. In my opinion Custom robots.txt will help to get better search engine boost.
Enabling this features will help blogger blogs for getting better results from search engines. Please make a look at Blogger SEO for better SEO for blogger blogs. This great new feature will increase points for blogger in Blogger vs WordPress debate.
